CAP: Canadian Association of Physicists

CAP is the Canadian Association of Physicists! They host many events throughout the year, post available jobs in Physics, and have scholarships available! It is free to join for Undergraduates!!

  • The CAP Lecture Tour

    • The 2021 Lecture Tour is done. To watch the lectures again, go to their YouTube here!

  • CAP SAC​

    • ​The Student Advisory Council at the Canadian Association of Physicists  (CAP SAC) has worked really hard last year to create a more inclusive physics community across Canada and they have some exciting announcements/plans coming this year!   • The Lloyd G. Elliott University Prize Exam

    • The exam is 10 questions on any and all topics in Physics. You have three hours to answer as many questions as you can! 

    •  The 2022 Prize Exam is not yet scheduled. For 2021, the first prize is 500$, the second prize is 300$, and the third prize is 200$! For more information go here.

    • All Undergraduates can participate, but I would recommend you have taken second year physics courses first.

  • Allan Carswell Physics Educator Scholarship

    • Awarded Annually

    • Do you have a passion for both physics and physics pedagogy? If so, and you are about to graduate or have recently graduated with a B.Sc. in physics, please consider applying for the 2021 Allan Carswell Physics Educator Scholarship.

    • Available to an undergraduate getting their B.Sc. this year and is applying to a program this fall that leads to becoming a HS physics teacher.

    • This scholarship recognizes the critical importance and value of having people who are trained in, and passionate about, physics engaging young Canadians in the classrooms of this country.

    • Up to 2 scholarships, valued at up to $5,000 Cdn.

  • Svensson Graduate Scholarship

    • Initial award will be in 2021 and thereafter on odd years.

    • The Svensson scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student in a Canadian university/college who has demonstrated both research excellence and significant service to the CAP and/or broader Canadian physics community.

    • One scholarship, valued at $3,000 Cdn.
